Learning to Love Yourself and Embrace Your Greatness
As a woman small business owner, you know just how tough it is to succeed in a highly competitive market. You may have the talent, the skills, and the knowledge, but if you don’t love yourself and accept yourself for who you are, you’re going to find it even harder to achieve your goals. This is something I spoke about at the recent Ladies Who Long Lunch event, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you today.
Women have come a long way in the business world over the past few decades. We have shattered glass ceilings, fought for equal pay and many women are successfully climbing the corporate ladder.
However, many women fall short when it comes to self-love and appreciating themselves. Why is it that women struggle so much with being confident in their own skin? Self-doubt is like a plague that spreads through us on a daily basis, constantly pulling us into a dark and negative space.
This blog post is all about stepping out of our shadows, embracing who we are, and wearing the crown that we truly deserve.
Negative self-talk
Have you stopped for a moment to think about how you talk to yourself?
Most of us do it subconsciously, but it has a great impact on our overall confidence and mental wellbeing. Women often engage in negative self-talk, calling themselves names and putting themselves down for their perceived flaws. To combat this, it’s important to become aware of negative self-talk and start to challenge it with positive, affirming language. Instead of saying, “I’ll never be good enough,” try something like, “I’m an incredibly talented professional who brings a unique skill set to the table.”
Start embracing yourself
It’s time to start celebrating who we are and what we bring to the table. This means accepting our strengths and weaknesses and realising that they make us who we are. No one is perfect, and that’s okay. We should start to embrace ourselves fully and commit to being kind to ourselves, every single day.
Reflect on your achievements
It’s hard to feel confident when you don’t give yourself credit for the things you’ve achieved.
Women often brush their successes aside, downplaying their accomplishments. When you achieve something – no matter how big or small – take the time to reflect on it. This reinforces the fact that you can do great things and builds your confidence for future pursuits.
Surround yourself with positivity
Surround yourself with positive and uplifting people who support you and believe in you. These people are your cheerleaders, encouraging you to take risks and pursue your goals. Negativity and criticism breed self-doubt, so try to distance yourself from those who bring you down.
Take care of yourself
Self-love also means taking care of ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally. This means eating well, getting enough rest and exercise, taking time for hobbies you enjoy, and working on your mental health. Make self-care a priority, and you will find yourself feeling more centered, confident and energised.
Self Love
The journey to self-love isn’t easy, but it is necessary to embrace our greatness and confidently take on the challenges that come our way. It is time to let go of the negative self-talk, accept ourselves for who we are, acknowledge our past achievements, have a positive social circle, and self-care is the building block that makes us stronger, more self-assuring women in the world of business.
We must start by valuing ourselves, overcome our self-limiting beliefs, and start believing in ourselves. It’s time to break free from our own shadows and start embracing our uncommon talents that make us the unique, powerful leaders we are.
So let’s put on our crowns, whatever that crown is for you. It could be diamonds, flowers, crystals, or a beautiful goddess Athena crown made of gold leaves. Just wear that crown and take on the world – because we can do it!
